7 Prom Hairstyles for Any Length!
It’s prom season! Finding the perfect hairstyle can make or break a prom look. Don’t stress about it though, because we’re giving you seven beautiful hairstyle ideas. These styles were all done by Hair Professionals Career College students, and they can give you one of these styles under the supervision of a licensed professional.
Come into our student salon and eliminate the hassle of doing your own hair! Choose from these seven prom hairstyles for any length of hair!
1. Loose Waves
Loose waves can look beautiful on any length of hair! This look can be done by using a curling barrel that’s one inch or bigger. For long hair, start the waves in the middle, so they fall at the ends. For short hair, start the waves at the root of the hair for a tousled look. This is an effortless hairstyle that only takes a few minutes.

2. Braided Half-Up Style
Braids are a good way to glam up any hairstyle. To get this look by @hairbymiralou, you can braid two strands of hair and pull them together to form a fishtail braid at the center. A secret that can make braids look thick and full is to use hair extensions or try fluffing up the hair to look fuller.
Want to try a fun twist on this style? Try adding smaller braids or curling your hair to make it more extravagant.
3. Beautiful Updo
Dance the night away at prom without your hair falling in your face! This braided updo by @hairbymavees can keep your hair intact and allow you to move freely on the dance floor.
4. Bubble Hair
Do you have a bubbly personality? Try this bubble hairstyle by @lindsayanne_beauty. If you are trying to stand out from the crowd, this is a look that you might not see often. This can also be a good alternative to braiding if you want to mix it up a bit. Try this look by using several ponytails to hold the hair together to form a bubble.
Try adding sparkly hair clips or bows between the bubbles to make your hair stand out even more!
5. Messy Bun
Messy buns can be the quickest, easiest hairstyle. There’s no right or wrong way to do a messy bun, but here are some tips for creating a perfect messy bun:
- Use bobby pins and clips to pull up pieces
- Start out by putting your hair in a ponytail or a single bun
- Curl your hair before instead of after to get the best results for curly ends
This hairstyle was created by @irieshair. We love this vibrant red color, too! Coloring your hair for prom could be exciting and can even make you feel like you have a new identity. Contact us to get a look like this.
6. Messy Knot
A messy knot is when you wrap two strands of hair to form the shape of a knot. This is a good prom hairstyle if you are looking for something simple. This hairstyle can look gorgeous with a long formal gown and a clutch purse.
This look is created by @megan_azzasalon.
7. Natural Curls
Whether you have natural curls, or you want natural curls, this hairstyle is for you! These curls were done with a roller set by @eileen.ski. This technique is done by rolling up each individual strand and letting the curls set in with heat. You can then pull out the rollers and tossle the hair until it falls into flawless curls.
